Google’s My Client Centre (MCC) is a resource for marketing agencies to use when managing more than one AdWords Account.
As an agency it’s our job to be in and out of various different business’s AdWords Accounts each and every day. Making changes to AdWords campaigns, updating ad copy and tweaking things here and there is all a part of what we do to keep a campaign running smoothly, and as effectively as possible.
The MCC account enables us to easily access all of our clients AdWords data and manage any changes using a single AdWords account. As the client, and owner of the AdWords Account, you will always remain in full control. You can enable agency access at any time, and just as quickly and easily remove that access immediately.
Using an MCC, or linking your AdWords account to a MCC, has no effect on the performance of your AdWords Campaigns, negative or otherwise. There is no way that an agency can gain complete control of your account either, as the owner of the account the power is always with you to remove access should you feel necessary.
It’s worth mentioning that for an agency to be able to use the MCC platform, there is a prerequisite that they are a Google Certified Partner, which effectively means they have a tick of approval from Google. All accounts that are within a MCC are constantly inspected by Google representatives to ensure only approved, “white hat” practices are being performed on that account. With that knowledge you can rest easy knowing your AdWords account is in safe hands.
How to link your account to a MCC:
1. First things first, you’ll need to locate your AdWords Account Number and give it to your account manager. They’ll need this to invite you into the MCC from their end. Your account number is a 10 digit number you can find within your AdWords account, at the top of your screen when you’re logged in. It’s important to note that you should be confident in your digital marketing agency and their abilities before handing over this number. Never give it to anyone who has requested via email, through an online forum or over the phone whom you do not know, and have not met with previously.
2. Once your account manager has this number, they can do their part from the MCC Account and send you an invitation to join. Once they’ve let you know that the invitation has been sent, log in to your AdWords account and navigate to the gear looking icon located in the top right corner of your screen. Click into the drop down menu, click account settings, then click next. Select account access, then find the client managers section and the circled box which says accept invitation. Click that circled box and your account manager should have instant access to your account.
Once this process has been done, let your account manager know so they can continue to set up what they need to from their end. The entire process should not take very long at all, and once completed you’ll have the assurance that a Google qualified AdWords professional is managing your account to the highest industry standards.
