• Did you know that the average person checks their phone more than 150 times per day?
•Did you know 9 out of 10 people will leave a mobile site if they can’t see what they’re looking for straight away?
• Did you know a customer is 5 times more likely to leave your website if it’s not easy for them to navigate?
It's stats like these among many others behind Google’s launch of their new website testing tool.
Released in early June, this new tool combines Google’s earlier mobile-friendly testing tool and their page speed testing tool. This makes it easier for users to test their sites in one place with easy to understand scores and actionable tips.
Your website will be scored out of 10 over three areas; Mobile Friendliness, Mobile Speed and Desktop Speed.
This score relates to the quality of experience your customers have while they’re browsing your site on their phones. Things which Google consider when scoring your mobile friendliness include easy navigation on smaller screens, tappable buttons and key information displayed higher up.
• Mobile speed
This score shows how long it takes your site to load on mobile devices. If customers are kept waiting for too long, they’ll move on to the next site.
• Desktop speed
This score shows how long it takes your site to load on desktop computers. Each element on your site can contribute to its loading speed, not just the strength of your customers’ website. We took a screenshot of a website’s score which we’ve displayed below:
The clean easy to ready score makes it simple for anyone to test their site, and come away with actionable tips they can implements themselves.
